Dr. Alvarado will discuss the democratization of science and the rise of citizen science inside and outside the laboratory.

Dr. Alvarado will advise the students on oral presentation skills with hands-on feedback sessions.

Dr. Alvarado will speak about mentoring, micro-communities and peer mentoring. He will lead a second workshop on assessing mentee progress and providing feedback.

Dr. Tajerian will guide the students through a presentation on authorship, collaborative research, and conflict of interest. The session will be followed by a hands-on workshop on the unbiased analysis of published data.

Dr. Alvarado will lead two interactive sessions: the first on self-sabotage and imposter syndrome, and the second on implicit biases and becoming and ally.

U-RISE SUMMER WORKSHOPS: SESSION III
Dr. Alvarado will lead an interactive workshop on the construction of a scientific abstract followed by a presentation on publishing for undergraduate students.

Dr. Tajerian will lead a presentation on networking and taking control of our academic identity. We will follow up with an interactive workshop on personal conflicts in a laboratory training environment.

The workshop will begin with a presentation by Dr. Tajerian to discuss her academic journey. We will follow up with a presentation on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
